This I Believe
"We are called the nation of inventors. And we are. We could still claim that title and wear its loftiest honors if we had stopped with the first thing we ever invented, which was American liberty." - Mark Twain
Anywhere I walk, all around me, I am witness of great American prosperity. I am surrounded by the inspirational and creative American Spirit and I am in awe with just how much, Americans invented. I believe that due to the liberty that Americans hold and with inspiration, desire and great American creativeness anything can be possible.
I believe that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world. I agree with Mark Twain's quote about this country. America is filled with creative people. Millions of Americans design and create new inventions everyday. Our country holds more patents than any other country in the world which is proof of American intellect and ingenuity. Patients reflect the individuals' interest or interests and this healthy diversity encompasses American society. For example there are different types of patents; utility, plant and design. The utility patents are granted to people who invent or discover a new and useful process or machine. This type of patent would most likely be sought by engineers. The plant patent would most likely be granted to biologist because it is given to people who discover or invent a type of asexual reproducing plant. The last patent would, the design patent, would obviously be given to a designer because it is granted for a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture. Symbolically the patents could represent different life paths and occupations represent an individuals American Dream. When paired correctly together (ex. biologist with plant patent) an American Dream is achieved or at least on the right path. You have to choose the right path for yourself have to pick your own path. If a one doesn't exist create one! When I think of these patents I think of prominent people such as Thomas Edison, Walt Disney and other American inventors that shaped American society and culture into is present form. They followed their instincts and listened to themselves and it payed off! The success of many influential and imaginative people are associated with the human liberty that the U.S. strives to protect and provide. Without it, The United States is nothing!
Today I looked around the room and saw everyone working/ inventing their own personalized websites. None of them were the same. Everyone had different ideas being incorporated into their final. This is evidence that the USA provided human liberty is at work right in American Literature class, subtle but still evident. The classroom atmosphere resembled the two most important components/ overlapping elements of Mark Twain's quote. They are
1. The United Sates of American being a nation of inventors
2. Human liberty as the first thing every invented in the United States
Throughout the project Human Liberty and America as a nation of inventors will be evaluated ad explained thoroughly.
